Alot can be learned about a person from how they spend their spare time. In most cases I'm a broad based individual always trying new things but there are several things that I enjoy doing more so than others. I've always had a great respect for the outdoors and the natural world that surrounds us. When I was young I looked forward to spending time with my dad hunting or fishing and the life values he managed to tie into our experiences. As I've grown older I have gained more respect for the importance of the time we've shared. I still spend a great deal of time in the outdoors though the ole man doesn't accompany me as much. Along the line I have grown partial to the world of competitive archery. That extra bit of challenge and adrenaline that comes from using a relatively primitive weapon is just as much rewarding and competing at organized events is a great way to keep my skill level on top. I usually spend one to two hours a day three or four days a week practicing and competions are generally held during weekends.
I am also a volunteer firefighter serving with Mount Hermon Fire and Rescue located just north of the city of Danville. I have been with the department since July of 2007 and completed the highest level of fire training offered in the Commonwealth of Virginia. I feel volunteerism is a great way to build character and give back to the community. There is also something surreal about running into a burning building, I'm sure the fact that I'm a bit of an adrenaline junky has become rather apparent.
